Giant Boots

Now I'm starting to notice giant boots wherever I go. Advertising gimmick, or evidence of a stealth invasion by a race of giants? YOU DECIDE!




Tucson, Arizona

Update April 2011: Since this photo was taken, this giant boot has been repainted; it now simply says "Vactor Ranch."




Scottsdale, Arizona

Cave Creek, Arizona

Prescott, Arizona

Prescott's Annual Whiskey Row Boot Drop takes place on New Year's Eve, from the flagpole atop the Palace Building.
Directions: 120 S. Montezuma St (boot is only in place for a few days in late December and early January).

Sacramento, California

Directions: Fairy Tale Town, 3901 Land Park Drive. An admission fee is charged.

San Antonio, Texas

At the base of the World's Largest Cowboy Boots, a cement plaque dated 3-20-87 has the artist's name (Bob Wade) and boot-clad footprints.
Directions: North Star Mall, 7400 San Pedro Ave (north side of mall, next to Loop 410 eastbound frontage road).

Kamuela, Hawaii

At plaque at the base of this giant boot says "1908-2008 / WAIOMINA CENTENNIAL / This commemorative boot is symbolic of the 1908 victory of four Waimea paniolo who reigned as World Champion steer ropers in the Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo in Wyoming / PANIOLO PRESERVATION SOCIETY." The paintings are signed "Art by Patrick Ching and Friends 2022 / Inspired by a Photograph by Chuck McKeand [street side] / Inspired by a Photograph by Christy Lassiter [parking lot side]."
